Most of the Citrus Heights houses we light are single-story ranches with composition shingle, low eaves and one outdoor GFCI that trips in the first real rain. That’s an easy roof and a fixable outlet, which is a good combination. Our Citrus Heights Christmas light installation crew brings the lights, runs the cords, sets the timer and pulls everything down in January. Call (916) 776-8436 and we’ll run the numbers with you right then.
What Citrus Heights Roofs Are Usually Like
Low eaves mean shorter ladders and a roofline that reads clean from the street. On shingle, a plastic tab clip slides under the bottom edge of each shingle, so nothing gets punched through the roof. Where a gutter runs along the front, we hook a gutter clip on the lip so the bulbs stand up straight instead of flopping back toward the fascia. On a short ranch roof we keep the bulbs evenly spaced and fairly close. Too far apart and the gaps show from the sidewalk.
Northwest, Stock Ranch and Sunrise Ranch
We come in from the north, so the Northwest area, right against the Roseville line, is usually the first stop. It’s mostly one-story ranches with the garage facing the street, and a garage-door wreath plus a clean eave line does most of the work there.
Stock Ranch, off Auburn Boulevard, is newer, built in the 2000s, with evenly shaped lots and younger landscaping. The trees usually aren’t big enough to carry a display yet, so the roofline, a wreath and pillar wraps at the porch do the heavy work.
Sunrise Ranch and the streets around Rusch Park have the opposite setup: established yards and big trees. Go light on the roof, heavy on the tree wraps, and the house still looks finished. Out east, Birdcage Heights has a lot of single-story homes with a short porch and a pair of posts, so two pillar wraps and a clean eave line cover it in one short visit. Anything near Antelope Road gets seen by a lot of traffic in December, so we lean toward brighter, simpler lines on those corner lots.
Power on an Older Ranch House
Older garages and porches here often have a single exterior outlet, and it tends to share a circuit with the washer or a chest freezer. We check what’s on that breaker before anything plugs in, keep the load well under what it can carry, and route cord along the foundation rather than over the grass. The timer lives at the outlet and runs dusk to whatever hour you pick.
Trees, Wreaths and Garland
On a trunk wrap we keep the spirals snug and even, about a hand’s width apart, tight enough that wind won’t slide them down but never cinched into the bark. Thick trunks wrap well. Skinny ornamentals mostly don’t, and we’ll say so. There’s more on our tree wrapping page.
Lit garland goes on entry arches, porch railings and banisters, held with soft ties. A lit wreath hangs from a bracket we set, never a nail through your siding. Stakes go into the soil a few inches off the edge of the walk, away from the sprinkler heads.
Citrus Heights Christmas Light Installation, Step by Step
- Call (916) 776-8436. We ask about the roof, the trees and where your outlets are. A couple of phone photos help if you have them.
- One trip: lights up, every run tested, timer set.
- If a strand goes out in December, call and a tech comes out to replace it.
- Takedown happens in January, and the strands leave with us.
We’re in Antelope, Fair Oaks and Orangevale all season, so Citrus Heights is on our route most days. If you’d rather start with photos than a call to (916) 776-8436, send them through our contact page along with your address.
